The Regional Training Center on Weapons of Mass Destruction Non-proliferation and Export Control for countries of Center Asia, Caucasus and Afghanistan
The Regional Training Center (RTC) on weapons of mass destruction nonproliferation and export control for countries of Central Asia, Caucasus, and Afghanistan began operating in March 2018. The RTC operates under the Education and Training Services Sector of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency NAST. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from 13 embassies and 16 international organizations.
The RTC is equipped with modern equipment of over USD 5 million. The RTC covers a wide range of activities in the field of education and training, which is include internal training courses and workshops, as well as online training on WMD nonproliferation and export controls, and prevention of terrorism. The RTC trains more than 500 specialists annually from the employees of Ministries and Authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as from other regions. Also, the training courses are held for law enforcement officers on the prevention of terrorism based on WMD in the RTC and different border crossings.
It is important to note that 12 instructors of the RTC were trained in European countries and at the IAEA headquarters for up to 2 years and have international accreditation.
