International conference dedicated to "Confidence-Building Measures" under the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) will take place from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event is organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
Experts from Kazakhstan, Hungary, and Mongolia, as well as representatives of various ministries and agencies from Tajikistan involved in biological safety and security, will participate in the seminar. Additionally, representatives of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) will present opportunities for project submissions in the field of biological safety and security.

Director of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency under National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Dr. Ilhom Mirsaidzoda, will deliver a speech on the measures taken by the Government of Tajikistan to enhance biological safety and security in the country. In his speech, he will highlight key initiatives to strengthen the national infrastructure in this area, cooperation with international partners, and the importance of adhering to the obligations of the BWC to prevent biological threats.

The primary objective of the conference is to share experiences and best practices in the implementation of confidence-building measures, as well as to discuss joint steps to improve the level of biological security in the region. Participants will address current challenges in biosafety and explore ways to improve national and international mechanisms for preventing threats.

The conference will provide a unique platform for strengthening cooperation between participating states and international organizations, as well as expanding collaboration within the framework of the BWC.
