Today marks 38 years since the terrible Chernobyl disaster
Today, citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) honor the memory of those who died when eliminating consequences of the natural disaster.
On April 26, 1986, an accident occurred at the fourth power unit of the powerful Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which is considered the worst nuclear accident in the history. This page of our past became one of the worst nuclear disasters in the history of mankind, as a result of the explosion, a large amount of radioactive substances were released into the atmosphere, and its catastrophic consequences for human health and the environment are still being noticed.
The Chernobyl disaster is not only a story of the past, but also a lesson for today and the future. We must value and protect the environment, strive for a peaceful and safe future, value the extremely high value of the environment and health, and not to allow negligent attitudes.
The territories of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine suffered especially from the Chernobyl accident. The anniversary of this date reminds us that each of us is responsible for the peace and safety of the planet and only together we can create a better future for ourselves and our loved ones, only together we can contribute to the safety of our environment.
