Regional Refresher Seminar for National Contact Points
On March 12-13, 2024, a Regional seminar was held in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan, to retrain National contact points on issues of coordination of the implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological (Bacteriological) Weapons in Central Asia.
The event was held by the initiative of the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Orzuzoda Faromuz, Chief Specialist of the Department of Human Rights Guarantees of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and Akhmedov Matin, First Deputy Director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security at the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences have participated at the mentioned event.
At the above-mentioned seminar mainly considered issues of the experience of Central Asian states in the direction of implementation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological (Bacteriological) Weapons, including the submission of annual reports by member states within the framework of “Confidence-Building Measures” to the Implementation Support Unit of the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), biological safety, biological protection and the development of regulatory legal acts in this area.
Overall, the event was held at a high level and with the active participation of representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan.
