Scientific expedition to the city of Penjikent and its environs
As part of the scientific research activities of the Agency for CBRN Safety and Security at NAST , including radiation monitoring of all cities and regions of the Republic of Tajikistan, from July 8 to 12 of this year, under the leadership of Academician Ulmas Mirsaidov, samples of soil, water and air have been collected in the city of Penjikent and its environs.
It should be noted that the main goal of this expedition was to study the radiation state of the Shing Gorge in the Penjikent region, where the "Seven Lakes" area is also located. Also, during the scientific expedition, the radiation background was determined over an area of more than 30 km2, 15 samples of water, soil and bottom layers of lakes were taken.
In addition, at the beginning of the scientific expedition, a radiation assessment of the oldest city of Sarazm, whose history is more than 5,500 years old, was carried out. During this scientific trip, samples were also taken from the historical site for further research. Based on the results of the scientific expedition, a radiation map of the studied area will be compiled. According to the action plan, radiation monitoring is planned to be carried out in other regions of the Republic of Tajikistan during the year.
