National workshop on the Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for nuclear and radioactive materials detection at the border.
From January 30 to February 3, 2017, the national workshop on the Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for detection of nuclear and radioactive materials at the border was held at Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency’s Regional Training Centre. The representatives of the Customs Service, Border Troops and NRSA attended the seminar. The seminar aimed to develop the instructions (SOPs) on the customs officer’s, bodyguard and Agency’s staff actions in the detection of nuclear and radioactive materials at the border (smuggling) using detection and portable devices installed at the border. Within four days participants developed drafts of own instructions (SOPs), and on the fifth day, it was tested on practice.
After confirmation, the participants are supposed to use the instructions in the daily activities. The workshop was held within the framework of the National Action Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan for the implementation of resolution 1540 of the United Nations Security Council, approved by a decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan of February 9, 2017.
