National IAEA training course on radiation safety in industry, November 12-16, Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
According to the Working Plan of IAEA national project, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan held a national training course on ensuring radiation safety in the industry from November 12 to 16, 2012.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, the Institute of Soil Science, the Tajik National University, the Institute of Geology and Seismology of Tajikistan and the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency participated in this training course.
The training course covered the following areas:
• Fundamentals of nuclear and radiation physics
• Interaction of radiation with substance
• Use of radioactive sources in various industrial sectors
• Biological effects of radiation
• Detection and measurement
• Control of occupational exposure
• Industrial accidents related to misuse of radioactive sources
• ensuring radiation safety in various sectors of industry where radioactive sources are used.
• Licensing and inspection
• Role of Customs in ensuring radiation safety
• The role of training and education in radiation safety assurance and others.
IAEA Expert - Professor Mehdi Sohrabi, Ilkhom Mirsaidov - Head of the Information and International Relations Department of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency, Bakhtiyor Barotov - Head of the Licensing Department, NRSA read lectures on above-mentioned areas.
Along with practical exercises, participants familiarized with dosimetry and spectrometric equipment stocks and its usage, which are available at the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency, as well as their use. A visit to the Agency's Nuclear and Radiation Safety Technical Laboratory was arranged as well.
At the end of the course, after passing the exam, all participants were awarded certificates.
