On December 29, 2020, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (NRSA NAST) was held an annual meeting.
In his welcoming speech, the Director of the Agency, Dr. Ilhom Mirsaizoda noted that despite a difficult year related to the pandemic situation, almost all set tasks had been fulfilled, including:
- amendments and additions to laws and regulations;
- the signing of a Memorandum of cooperation with the Customs Service of RT;
- move to the new building;
- the start of construction works of the new building of Sughd region branch office;
- the start of construction works of new laboratory СBRN;
- equipment for new laboratory had been received;
- landscaping of NRSA regional training center and laboratory; 200 evergreen trees had been planted.
Particular attention was paid to the establishment of the "Nuclear Women" club. Moreover, the first international scientific-practical conference: "The Role of Women Scientists in Science, Innovation and Technology" was held. Dr. Ilhom Mirsaizoda expressed his confidence in the support of women scientists in their scientific activities.
The Director then discussed the challenges and perspectives for 2021:
- training of personnel in biological safety;
- training of staff on exposure control;
- completion of the construction works of the laboratory;
- licensing issue;
- provision of calibration laboratory services;
- development of regulatory legal acts in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
During the meeting, the departments and sector heads of NRSA NAST made presentations on achievements, issues, and plans for 2021.
At the end of the meeting, the Director of NRSA NAST congratulated all employees on the achieved results in the implementation of set tasks for 2020 and awarded employees with letters of appreciation and diploma for the significant contribution to the development of the Agency.
