US Department of Energy experts visit “Guliston” checkpoint in Isfara. Plans for the installation of RPM
On December 4, 2021, the experts from the US Department of Energy visited the “Guliston” checkpoint in Isfara for equipment with radiation portal monitors (RPM).
The experts from the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy (DOE/NNSA) and the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence (NSDD), employees of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety & Security Agency (CBRN SSA), representatives of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the head and officers of "Guliston" chekcpoint attended the meeting.
During the visit, the development of a project plan and deployment of RPM for vehicles and pedestrians at the “Guliston” checkpoint were discussed. In parallel, experts discussed the location of the Centralized Alarm Warning System (CAS), aimed at effective management of alarms during the detection, response and prevention of illegal trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials at the “Guliston” checkpoint in Isfara.
