Provision of equipment for radiation safety monitoring
The Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense of Tajikistan and Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear safety and security Agency of National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan recently signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of radiation monitoring.
The memorandum enhance collaboration in the field of radiation monitoring and obtaining the data transmission on the radiation situation in the country within the framework of the IAEA Project TAD9008.
In order to establish a radiation monitoring system, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), through the national coordinator – the Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear Safety and security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, provided necessary equipment to the CoES to the total value of 169 thousand 400 euros.
The transferred equipment includes SpectroTRACER radiation monitoring systems manufactured by Bertin GmbH (Germany) and planned to be installed in the Dushanbe, Khorog, Khujand, Bokhtar and Kulyab cities for continuous monitoring of the radiation situation in the country.
The system is intended to maintain the radiation monitoring under the Project, and shall be used for certain tasks for protection of population, and the Crisis Management Center and the Republican Chemistry and Radiometric Laboratory of the CoES.
