Participation in the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
The 67th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference is being held from 25 to 29 September 2023 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria, where high-ranking officials and representatives from IAEA Member States will consider a range of issues.
Delivering national statement at the Conference, the head of the Tajik delegation noted the level of bilateral cooperation with IAEA in various fields, including the peaceful use of nuclear technologies within the framework of IAEA programs, important cooperation projects in the field of health, environmental protection, especially glacier protection within the framework of the fifth initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity. - Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, declaring 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection.
The importance of remediation of the territories damaged by uranium production in the Central Asian countries, completed rehabilitation works, existing problems and the implementation of subsequent measures were also emphasized.
Separate meetings of the country's delegation with representatives of partner states to discuss the areas of cooperation and joint implementation of the IAEA General Strategic Plan on the rehabilitation of radioactive waste sites in Central Asian countries were held on the sidelines of the conference.
