Official Ceremony of Transferring the Diagnostic Equipment Part to the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre within the Implementation National Project of the TC IAEA

February 15, 2024, within the implementation of the national projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) TAD6007 – “Strengthening the Central and Northern Oncology Centres” and TAD6008 – “Improving Diagnostic Services” was transferred the universal tabletop for computer tomography (CT) and other modern diagnostic equipment to the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In the official ceremony, Mr. Matin AKHMEDOV - Deputy Director, and Mr. Olimjon AZIZOV - Head of the Public and International Relations Department of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of NAST participated as the National Liaison Assistants. This equipment was donated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the timely diagnosis and prevention of cancer diseases in Tajikistan.
Dr. Zafar HUSEINZODA - Head of the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre noted: "Since 2005 the treatment of cancer is radiation therapy became possible after the implementation of various projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with the support of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST”.
It must be noted that within the framework of the above-mentioned projects seven specialists from the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre from Dushanbe, six specialists from the Sughd Oncological Center and one specialist from the Kulob Oncology Hospital were trained in modern foreign oncological centers noted Dr. Arabiya ASLIDDINOVA - Head of the Radiation Therapy Department of the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre in Dushanbe.
Dr. Azimjon QURBONOV - a radiologist, who was trained for two years at the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov highlighted the following: "During my two years fellowship, I have deep learned this field and well use the modern machines such as ultrasound, radiological examination, CT and MRI. Nowadays, cancer is not such a terrible disease. Because, medical science has improved and uses the modern technology, which can prevent the cancer disease in early stage. As one of the IAEA fellows I want to contribute in this direction in our country”.
Dr. Abubakr NASRULLOEV is a radiologist and has an IAEA Certificate is mentioned that: “It was honored to me to get such as the knowledge and skills on radiodiagnosis area in Oncological Center in Baku. Currently, all gained knowledge help to me in my job at the Department of Radiology and Endoscopy of the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre.
Dr. Nizomiddin NIZOMOV is medical physicist, who completed training three-month training fellowship in medical physicist area in Latvia. He notes: "During the training period, I received a lot of information on modern medical equipment, including an Ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammograph, etc. The acquired knowledge helps me to carry out high-quality diagnostics services at the Oncological Hospital in Dushanbe".
It should be noted that the purpose of these projects is the timely detection and prevention of various oncological diseases in Tajikistan. In the upcoming years, within the framework of the above-mentioned projects is planned to procure other medical equipment and fellowships in this area supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with the assistance of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of NAST.
