November 6, 1994 is a significant date in the history of Tajikistan: the day of adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan. With the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan, the people of the Republic began the path to the creation of a legal, democratic and secular state based on the expression of the will of the people. The Constitution, as a fundamental document of statehood, laid the foundation for sustainable peace, socio-economic development and improvement of the standard of living of citizens. The past 30 years have shown that this document is not only a factor of internal stability, but also a means of representing Tajikistan in the international arena.
Yesterday, at the Educational and Training Center of the Agency for CBRN Safety and Security of the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences (NAST) a scientific and practical seminar on the topic “Radiation and radiological safety of historical and tourist sites” was held.
On October 29, in Dushanbe, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, and Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustam Emomali, inaugurated the new building of the Regional Center for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Security and Assurance of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
Last week, at the Educational and Training Center of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security at the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences, under the leadership of NAST academician Ulmas Mirsaidov the next scientific and practical seminar on the state of radio-ecological safety was held.
The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, in collaboration with the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the NAST, hosted a high-level international event on 15th October 2024 in Hyatt Regency Hotel, Dushanbe. During the event, project proposals were presented for the establishment of the International Training Facility for Countering Terrorism using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) materials. In addition to this project, more than 30 other project proposals in the field of CBRN were also presented.
Yesterday, at the training and educational center of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security at the Tajikistan National Academy of Sciences (NAST), under the leadership of NAST academician Ulmas Mirsaidov, a training seminar on the topic “Issues of monitoring assessment in historical and tourist sites of Tajikistan” was held.
International conference dedicated to "Confidence-Building Measures" under the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) will take place from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The event is organized by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA).
The Director of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Ilhom Mirsaidzoda, participated in the side event titled "The Role of the International Community in Reducing Risks Associated with Legacy Sites in Central Asia," held on September 16, 2024, as part of the 68th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Director of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Ilhom Mirsaidzoda, is participating in the 68th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), taking place from September 16 to 20, 2024, in Vienna, Republic of Austria. The high-level delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan includes Professor Ilhom Mirsaidzoda, Director of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST, Mr Aziz Nazar, Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies, and Mr Idibek Kalandar, Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the IAEA.
6 September 2024, in the conference hall of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, there was a signing ceremony of the Memorandum on cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan and the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan "On establishment of the National Training Centre for Masters Degree in Medical Physics at the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan”.
On August 29, 2024, at the Regional Educational and Training Center in the Field of Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear (CBRN) Safety and Security and the Fight against Terrorism Using Weapons of Mass Destruction of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security of the NAST a joint scientific seminar of the Research Department of the Agency for CBRN Safety and Security at the NAST and the Laboratory of Mineral Resources Processing of the NAST V.I.Nikitin Institute of Chemistry was held on the problems of elaboration of the methods for uranium-thorium compounds synthesis and processing of borosilicate ores as materials for neutron protection.
August 19, 2024, in the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan hosted a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republican State Enterprise "Institute of Nuclear Physics" of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency (CBRN SSA) of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
RAISING THE STATUS OF SCIENCE IS THE MAIN GOAL OF THE HIGHEST LEADERSHIP OF THE COUNTRY
The purpose of the meeting of the Founder of National Peace and Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon with scientistc and educators of the country is to discuss the results of the previous meeting with the intelligentsia, the current state of development of science and its prospects, issues of increasing the level of study of natural and mathematical sciences, support of initiatives in the direction of invention, quality and effectiveness of education of scientific personnel in the country.

Last week, a general meeting was held in the conference hall of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan with the participation of the management and staff of this agency. Strengthening enlightenment and outreach activities is one way to prevent terrorism and extremism.
The complex geopolitical situation of the modern world and the spread of such undesirable and horrifying phenomena as terrorism and extremism, which pose a direct threat to human society, peace and stability, state security and sustainable development of society, are of concern not only to the Republic of Tajikistan, but also the planet. Analyses confirm that terrorism is one of the most dangerous crimes involving malicious acts such as explosions, incidents of arson, firing of firearms, destruction of properties, disruption of the security of the State, society, the activities of State authorities and military structures, intimidation of large numbers of the population, physical harm to community members or representatives of the authorities for the aim of weakening the foundations of the constitutional order, state security and other dangerous acts established by the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan.

By order and constant, comprehensive support of the Founder of National Peace and Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the implementation of the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan from August 31, 2023 № 407 on the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution on the declaration of "2025 - International Year of Glacier Protection", also in order to increase the contribution of women in society, the members of the association "Glaciers research by Women" of the State Scientific Institution «Center for Research of Glaciers of the National Academy of Sciences of the Tajikistan» together with the Youth Association "Atom" of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and l Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, the members of the association " Glaciers research by Women " of the Center for Glacier Studies together with the youth association "Atom" of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, on February 28, 2024 held an open lesson for pupils of grades 6-11 in the secondary school No. 55 in Dushanbe.
In order to explain the Address of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon to the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan and declaring 2020-2040 "Twenty years of study and development of natural, exact and mathematical sciences in the field of science and education", on the initiative of the Branch of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Sughd region held a scientific-theoretical seminar on "Radiation Safety" at the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Tajikistan in Buston town.
On 22 February 2024, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Regional Training Centre of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan was held a sporting event with the participation of youth of the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
On February 21, 2024, the 10th Scientific Republican Conference “The contribution of women to the development of modern science”, dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was held at the Regional Training Center of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST. The conference was held within the framework of the “Twentieth anniversary of study and development of natural, exact and mathematical sciences in the field of science and education for 2020-2040.”
February 15, 2024, within the implementation of the national projects of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) TAD6007 – “Strengthening the Central and Northern Oncology Centers” and TAD6008 – “Improving Diagnostic Services” was transferred the universal tabletop for computer tomography (CT) and other modern diagnostic equipment to the Republic Oncological Scientific Centre of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan.
International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated annually on 11 February, was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to ensure women and girls' full and equal access to and participation in science. This Day is a reminder that women and girls play an important role in the science and technology community and that their participation must be expanded.
Nowadays, terrorism and extremism pose a serious threat to the security of the entire world. In recent years, the world community has been increasingly confronted with the threats of terrorism and extremism, which know no borders and require concerted efforts at the international level. A special attention is paid to the situation in Afghanistan, where complex geopolitical and socio-economic conditions create favourable conditions for the spread of ideas of extremism and terrorism, and therefore the role of scientific and educational institutions in the training of law enforcement structures in the Republic of Tajikistan becomes particularly important to effectively counter these threats at the border.

On January 26, 2024, as part of activities of National Chapter WiN Tajikistan on the exchange of knowledge and experience, a lecture was held on the topic “Emotional Burnout Syndrome.” The speaker was Nigora Abidzhanova, head of Branch/Country representative of Tajikistan ICAP Global Health, Ph.D.
Attracting women and youth to technical professions
In the social policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, serious attention is paid to the issue of increasing the status of women in society. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is implementing a set of measures for this purpose, as well as measures to ensure compliance with their constitutional rights, expand social and labor activities, promote a healthy lifestyle, and improve the level of education.
18 January 2024 a meeting on implementation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) National Project TAD7003 "Strengthening Capacity for Monitoring Radionuclides in Fodder, Food and Water" was held at the National Diagnostic Centre of the Food Security Committee of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.

On December 27, 2023, an annual meeting of WiN Tajikistan members took place devoted to summing up the results of the year.
Thanks to the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on declaring 2025 "International Year of Glacier Preservation" the development of international cooperation allows to expand the boundaries of research work on glaciers and reach the international level to meet international standards.
On 20 December 2023, with the support of the National Coordinator of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (CBRN SSA NAST) in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan (MoHSPP RT), in particular with the State Institution "Republican Scientific Centre of Oncology" of the MoHSPP RT, the Sughd Regional Oncology Centre conducted a meeting with specialists who have completed long-term training in advanced oncology clinics of foreign countries in the field of medical physics, radiation therapy and diagnostics within the framework of the implementation of the IAEA national project TAD6007 - Strengthening the Center of Oncology Centers and TAD6008 – Improving Diagnostic Services.
On December 9, 2023, with support of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan (CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the national project TAD5006 - "Application of Nuclear and Molecular Methods of Diagnostics and Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases", modern equipment and consumables were handed over to the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

On November 29, 2023, as part of activities of WiN Tajikistan to encourage interest to the science among young people the introductory tour to the Regional Educational and Training center on CBRN safety and security and WMD counter-terrorism and the laboratory of CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST was carried out for high school students of the International School “Contofield” by Ekaterina Don – the teacher of biology and geography.
On November 28, 2023, an official ceremony took place to transfer the ion chromatograph to the laboratory of water quality, isotopes, and sanitation of the State Scientific Institution “Center for Glacier Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan” as part of the implementation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) national project TAD7004 - “Establishing National Capacity for Glacier and Snow Assessment under Changing Climate Conditions.”

Cultural Event dedicated to the State Language Day
On 5 October 2023 at the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan in honour of the "Day of the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan" a cultural event entitled " Wonderful Tajik Language" was held under the leadership of the youth club "Atom" of the CBRN Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Primary Committee of the People's Democratic Party "Afkanishot" of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

Regional Coordination Meeting conducted by IAEA and the Government of Tajikistan Dushanbe, June 6, 2023. Today, the Government of Tajikistan through the Chemical, Biological and Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency has hosted a 3-days Regional l Coordination Meeting which was conducted in close coordination with International Atomic Energy Agency. The purpose of the event is to present and review the progress made and define future activities to be implemented under the project “RER2020003 - Supporting the Analysis of Low Carbon Pathways towards an Ambitious Decarbonised Energy Sector by 2050”.

On 11 May 2023, the members of WiN Tajikistan visited the OJSC "AZOT" Plant and the “Sarband” Hydro Power Plant in Levakand of Khatlon Region of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It should be reminded that about 16 million tonnes of uranium industry waste have been accumulated at the uranium legacy site located on the territory of Istiklol (formerly Taboshar) in Tajikistan, formed in the period from 1945 to 1965 for the processing of uranium ore. In terms of radiation safety, the uranium legacy site is very close to the settlement. Important local radiation protection issues are related to the use of water from adit No. 6 and the open pit, the location of School No. 5 (170 pupils) at the entrance to the site, the frequent use of the site by the local population as a place for raising domestic animals, and the problem of the location of small farms, orchards and vegetable gardens.

March 15, 2023, within the framework of the activities of the National Section of WiN Global “Nuclear Lady” (WiN Tajikistan) with the aim of awakening the interest of adolescents and youth in science, on the initiative of Zarina Shoimardonova - senior researcher at the Agency of Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan organized an excursion for students of grades 10-11 of TRLI “Hotam and PV” (branch in the city of Hisar). On March 6, 2023, at the Regional Training Center of CBRN Safety and Security Agency of National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan a meeting was held dedicated to the third anniversary of formation of WiN Tajikistan. More than 70 participants took part in the event, including from foreign countries connected online.
On 27 February 2023, an official ceremony to hand over Radiation Portal Monitors (RPM) for the detection of nuclear and radioactive materials was held at Khujand International Airport. The RPM was handed over by USA Department of Energy for use in preventing terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction, as part of the National Action Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan under UN Security Council Resolution 1540.
On February 24, 2023, a Republican Scientific and Practical Conference “The role of women in the development of exact sciences” was held in the conference hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan. The conference was opened by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, academician Farhod Rahimi, who noted that: “The role of women in the development of exact sciences is significantly increasing, and we are proud that women scientists carry out large scientific activities on an equal basis with men”.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly to ensure full and equal access to participation in science for women and girls, is celebrated around the world on 11 February each year. On 9 February 2023, Kayumova Dilorom Abdulhamidovna (Ph.D.), Vice-President of the National Branch of "Khonumi Yadroi" (WiN Tajikistan), responsible for popularisation of science among youth together with Vice-President Sharofova Mizhgona Umedzhonovna (Ph.D.) organised a round table dedicated to "International Day of Women and Girls in Science". The aim of the round table was to popularise science among women and girls by sharing experiences.
8 February 2022, an official ceremony was held for the handover of military supplies to the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan within the framework of the National action plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1540.

On January 13, 2023, in Dushanbe, at the National Information Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar”, a conversation was held with WiN Tajikistan member Gaibullaeva Zumrat – a gold medal winner of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2022, PhD on chemical sciences, Associate Professor of Tajik Technical University named after acad. M.S. Osimi in the radio program “Women and Life” on the topic “The role of women in the sciences development”. During the conversation, Gaibullaeva Zumrat spoke about the activities of WiN Tajikistan, which was created on March 8, 2020, the goals and objectives of the organization were noted. Gaibullaeva Zumrat also spoke about the activities of the participants and their contribution to the development of science in Tajikistan, about scientific and cultural events, promoting family values, a healthy lifestyle, spiritual, moral and patriotic education of youth, as well as on charity events. WiN Tajikistan members held a number of competitions, such as: the best essay among female students on the topic “The role of women scientists of Tajikistan in the development of science”, a children’s drawing competition “The world around us through the eyes of children”, round tables and seminars were organized, meetings with women veterans , the annual international scientific and practical conference “The Role of Women Scientists in the Development of Science, Innovation and Technology”. During a conversation about the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Role of Women in the Development of Science, Innovation and Technology,” held in 2022 in the city of Gulistan, Sughd region, the active participation of women in various fields of science was noted. Along with women scientists from Tajikistan, women from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, the United States of America, Pakistan and others took an active part with interesting reports and results of their research. During the conference, women scientists discussed further plans for cooperation, considered the issues of women leadership in society, involving young girls to scientific and technical fields, emphasized the importance of studying the modern technologies, sophisticated equipment, and addressing issues of improving women’s health, their working and living conditions generally.

On January 13, 2023, in Dushanbe, at the National Information Agency of Tajikistan “Khovar”, a conversation was held with WiN Tajikistan member Gaibullaeva Zumrat – a gold medal winner of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2022, PhD on chemical sciences, Associate Professor of Tajik Technical University named after acad. M.S. Osimi in the radio program “Women and Life” on the topic “The role of women in the sciences development”.
On January 9, 2023 at the dissertation council 6D.KOA-041 of the Tajik Technical University named after academician M. Osimi our colleague Muminov Safarali Valievich successfully defended his scientific research dissertation on the topic "State of radiation safety and radon monitoring of the territory of Tajikistan" on the speciality 03.02.08 - Ecology (technical sciences).

EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR ON SUPPLY ASPECT RADIATION SAFETY AND SOCIAL PROTECTION OF THE POPULATION
In order to strengthen and at the same time ensure radiation safety and social protection of the population, the staff and management of the Branch of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan in Sughd region (Agency Branch) in cooperation with the Head of the State Control Service of Health and Social Protection of the Population in Sughd region on December 21 of this year in the newly built building of the Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan in Sughd region (Agency branch) with the participation of medical personnel, doctors - radiologists, radiologists, as well as heads of non-governmental institutions regardless of form of ownership and administrative subordination in their activities, which use radioactive sources, held a training seminar to ensure radiation safety and social protection of the population.
The technical workshop on action plan development for public awareness on preparing to remediation works and stakeholders engagement was organized in Guliston of Sughd region, between November 3-5, 2022. This workshop is part of continuation of the regional project “Stakeholders engagement for Uranium Legacy Remediation in Central Asia. Phase II”.
On 28 October 2022, a meeting with Sandra Maria Stejskail, Head of the IAEA European Technical Cooperation Department, with Olimjon Azizov the representative of the Agency on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Safety and Security of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, as well as with the staff of the Laboratory "Water Quality, Isotopes and Sanitation of the NAST Glacier Research Centre" was held at the SSI "Glacier Research Centre of the NAST ".
On October 14, 2022, an official ceremony of handing over the nuclear and radioactive detection equipment to the Ministry of the Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan was held within the framework of the National Action plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1540.

On October 6, 2022, at the Fotehobod customs checkpoint, the commissioning ceremony of installed modern nuclear and radiation detectors took place, aimed at prevention of terrorism utilizing the weapons of mass destruction. The event held within the framework of the National action plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1540, which was approved by Government Decree No. 54 of February 9, 2016.

On September 27, 2022, on the sidelines of 66th session of the IAEA General Conference, a meeting was held between Ilhom Mirsaidzoda - Director and Farhod Khamidov - Head of Licensing, Inspection and Response to CBRN Emergency Department of CBRN Safety and Security Agency of NAST with head and staff of the IAEA Safeguards Department.

On August 24-26, 2022 III International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Role of Women-Scientists in Science, Innovation and Technology Development”, has been held in Gulistan city (Sughd region, Tajikistan) which was attended by more than 100 participants. Conference organizers: - Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Safety and Security Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan; - National Chapter WiN Tajikistan under the CBRN Safety and Security Agency; - International Scientific and Technical Center (ISTC).

On 21-23 February 2022, at the Training Center of National Bank of Tajikistan (Guliston town) a training course was conducted on raising the awareness of population on rehabilitation issues of radioactive waste storage facilities in Sughd region. The training course was launched for executive authorities press-secretaries of Sughd region as a part of implementation of National Concept for the Rehabilitation of radioactive waste storage facilities of uranium production.

On December 28, 2021, official handover ceremony of Covid-19 detection equipment to the Institute of Veterinary Medicine of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences was carried out. Maintaining essential health services during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Health systems around the world are being challenged by increasing demand for care of COVID-19 patients, it is critical to maintain preventive and curative services, especially for the most vulnerable populations, such as children, older persons, people living with chronic conditions, minorities and people living with disabilities.
On 23rd September 2020 official ceremony of COVID-19 detection equipment transfer to Ministry of Health and social protection of population took place. Equipment was provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) through the project INT0098 for strengthening the national capacities of designated laboratories in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
On September 22, 2020, on the margins of the IAEA General Conference, a joint statement was signed between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United States of America on countering nuclear smuggling. Participants expressed their common commitment to support initiatives to counter smuggling of nuclear materials as outlined in the National Action Plan of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of UNSCR 1540.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues in many parts of the world, including Central Asia. To date, the number of people infected in Kazakhstan has reached 18,765, in Uzbekistan - 6,755, in Tajikistan - 5,567, and in Kyrgyzstan - 3,726. This pandemic is a serious sustainable development, and the fight against this problem is possible only with the help of accurate data and knowledge.
Strengthening and adjusting public health measures throughout the COVID-19 transition phases
Member States of the WHO European Region are at varying phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless of the phase, governments and public health authorities must begin to envision, and plan for, the subsequent stages of their response strategy, with the ultimate aim of reaching and maintaining a state of low-level or no transmission.

A.D. Saharov, the representative of the International Saharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University, Head of the Complex Automation Department within the period from January 23 to 27, 2017 had an expert visit to Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency Training Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. Workshop on review of "Strategic Master Plan for the Rehabilitation of Uranium Heritage Territories in Central Asia" On January 12-13, 2017, at the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency Regional Training Center of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan was held a workshop on document review of "Strategic Master Plan for the Rehabilitation of Uranium Heritage Territories in Central Asia" prepared by the IAEA Coordinating Group (CGULS, IAEA).
European Union Supports Nuclear Security in the Republic of Tajikistan
Modern systems to detect trafficking of nuclear and radioactive materials are installed at Tajik borders. Under the EU Instrument contributing to Stability and Peace (IcSP) the European Union has supported the Republic of Tajikistan with its Border Monitoring capabilities in Nuclear Security.
New equipment at the NRSA Technical Service Laboratory
NRSA Technical Services Laboratory received new equipment within the framework of the national project "TAD 1001 – Enhancing of Laboratory Capacities for Environmental Monitoring" of the IAEA Technical Cooperation. The equipment includes a modern alpha spectrometer and a gamma spectrometer from Canberra with Genie 2000 software and an electric cooling system. The set also includes laboratory accessories for sampling and storage. This equipment will be used to determine the content of radionuclides in environmental facilities (air, soil, and water) and other materials.
The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency (NRSA) of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan with the support of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission held a workshop on “Support of resolution and implementation of effective regulatory review of ionizing radiation sources in Tajikistan”.
Technical Meeting of U.S. Department of Energy experts with NRSA technical specialists
A technical meeting of experts of the U.S. Department of Energy with NRSA technical specialists of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the State Enterprise "Radioactive Waste Disposal Site" to strengthen the infrastructure of the state enterprise "Radioactive Waste Disposal Site" was held in Dushanbe from May 19 to May 21. NRSA in cooperation with SE "Radioactive Waste Disposal Site" presented project proposals for financing, which were discussed during the meeting.
On January 24, 2014, an official ceremony was held to transfer mobile equipment and equipment to the directors of the Customs Service under the GRT and the Border Troops of the State Committee on National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Training Course on facilities and mobile equipment maintenance
A training course was held from January 21 to 23, 2014. During the training course, participants introduced to the basics of radiation and its effects on human health; a mobile nuclear and radioactive material detection system; nuclear smuggling and its examples, hand-held radiation detection equipment for secondary inspection, as well as practical exercises with various scenarios at the international airport of Dushanbe using special minibuses and equipment
Training course on maintenance and repair of mobile detection systems and equipment for detection of illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials took place in Nuclear and radiation safety agency under Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan from 13 to 17 January 2014.
On January 24, 2013, the laboratory of technical services of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency (NRSA), organized the safe transportation of 66 spent radioactive sources to the Republican radioactive waste disposal site. The procedure of transportation has been implemented within the framework of the signed work plan between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the United States of America in the field of prevention of smuggling of nuclear and radioactive materials.

IAEA mission on Integrated Nuclear Security Support Plan was held at the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency (State Regulatory Body) from December 10 to 12, 2012.
National IAEA training course on radiation safety in industry, November 12-16, Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
According to the Working Plan of IAEA national project, the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan held a national training course on ensuring radiation safety in the industry from November 12 to 16, 2012. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Committee on Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, the Institute of Soil Science, the Tajik National University, the Institute of Geology and Seismology of Tajikistan and the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency participated in this training course.
The workshop aimed at providing member States with an overview of the IAEA methodology for establishing National Education and Training Strategy in radiation, transport and waste safety.
A regional workshop for Afghan and Tajik border guards, customs officers and radiation security regulators held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The course was conducted for staff directly carrying out control functions, and the main topic was “Training of trainers to courses on radiation detection techniques”
The training on carrying out inspections at medical enterprises, which use sources of ionizing radiation, was held in Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan (NRSA NANT) from March 5-9, 2012. An IAEA expert, Ms Zuzana Pášková from the Czech Republic, undertook a mission in Tajikistan.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION PROJECT ON "EQUIPPING BORDERS WITH PORTAL MONITORS"
The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency held a meeting with European Commission representatives from October 18 to 19, 2011.
IAEA Regional Training Course of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on "Methodologies for modeling the impact of radiation factors on the environment and the population" was held in Dushanbe from 26 to 30 September 2011. Representatives of Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, and Tajikistan attended the course.

JOINT ACTION PLAN ON COMBATING SMUGGLING OF NUCLEAR AND RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS
On 22 September 2010, a meeting was held in Conference-hall of “VEFA” center in Dushanbe between Government’s representatives of the United States of America and Tajikistan. During the meeting “Joint action plan on combatting smuggling of nuclear and radioactive material” was discussed .
Nuclear and Radiation Safety Agency and Tajik State Medical University in cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency conducted a national train-the-trainers course for lecturers of future Educational and Training Center on Radiation Protection in the frame of national project TAD/0/003 “Establishing a National Educational and Training Centre on Radiation Protection”, which took place from 28 June to 2 July 2010 in Khoja-Obi-Garm sanatorium. The participants of that training course were persons who were trained through IAEA training courses, fellowships and scientific visits.
The International Conference: “Addressing the Issues of Potential Terrorism and Guarding against Weapons of Mass Destruction in Central Asia” took place in Dushanbe.
